Parents
Bus riders: Bus riders will be dropped off in the bus parking lot and will enter the cafeteria. Students will sit in designated areas and wait for the teacher on duty to begin breakfast. Students are expected to remain seated and talk quietly until they are dismissed from the cafeteria/gym at approximately 7:30 a.m. Students arriving on a late bus will be allowed to eat breakfast before reporting to homeroom and will not be considered tardy.
Car riders: Parents may drop students off beginning at 7:00 a.m. each morning. Students will enter through the main doors at the front of the building. All students will report to the cafeteria / gym between 7:00 – 7:30 a.m. After 7:30 a.m. car riders will report to their homeroom teacher. Breakfast is available in the main lobby after 7:30 a.m. for car riders.
Band Students: Band students will need to keep their instrument with them until students are dismissed from downstairs. Upon dismissal, they may take their instrument to the band room. Students are NOT allowed to stay in band room. They should only be dropping off instrument.
Class restroom breaks are given periodically during the day with teachers monitoring both bathrooms.
Individual restroom breaks are given as needed, with teacher permission!
Riding the school bus is a privilege. The following guidelines are necessary to provide the safest and most comfortable conditions possible for students.
The driver is in charge of the bus. Students must obey the driver.
Students shall sit in assigned seats at all times with arms and head inside the bus.
Eblen students shall sit in the front half of the school bus unless they are the only students who ride that bus
Eating, drinking, or chewing gum is not allowed on buses.
Anything that compromises student safety will not be permitted on the bus, including, but not limited to, perfumes, body sprays, horseplay, wrestling, fighting, spitballs, and throwing items.
Noise level on buses needs to be at a reasonable level.
Students must ride their assigned bus and may only get on or off the bus at their designated bus stop.

Consequences for Bus Misbehavior:
1st Referral- Conference/warning
2nd Referral- Bus Suspension for 1-3 days
3rd Referral- Bus Suspension for 3-5 days
4th Referral- Bus Suspension for 5-10 days
5th Referral- Bus Suspension for one semester or more
Each teacher will develop their own classroom procedures and expectations according to Buncombe County Schools policies, Eblen Intermediate School polices and the PBIS program.
Student Responsibilities:
Students will follow the correct cafeteria procedures that have been modeled by their teacher.
Students will select their drink (milk or water), silverware, and lunch choices and check out with the cashier using an appropriate voice level.
Students will walk with their food tray to their designated table, sit down, and eat their lunch.
Students may not return to the serving line for any reason.
Students will clean up after themselves before being dismissed to the garbage area.
Students will follow the designated path to the garbage area, empty their trays and stack the tray in the dishwasher window.
Each teacher will designate 1 student per class to be responsible for picking up all trash under and on top of the tables and to wipe down the tables. This student must wear the Table Washer lanyard.
Students will exit the cafeteria and stand in a quiet single file line.
Lunch monitors will award class Dojo points to those classes how show outstanding cafeteria behavior.
First Load Bus riders (approximately 2:45 p.m.):
Bus riders will line up according to their pods at 2:45 p.m. in the main hallway on each grade level.
Teachers will escort the students to the bus dismissal area in a single file line according to their location in the building.
Teachers will lead their students into the bus parking lot; stopping at each bus until all students are gone.
Students will walk in designated areas in a safe and appropriate manner.
Car riders (approximately 2:50 p.m.): Car riders will line up according to their pods in the main hallway on each grade level.
Car riders will follow the hallway procedures for walking to the dismissal area.
When the bell rings for car rider dismissal, teachers will lead students through the front doors. 5th grade will exit through the 2 left double doors and 6th grade through the right double doors.
Students will sit in the designated area assigned for their grade level. 5th grade will sit on the left hand side of the sidewalk and 6th grade will sit on the right hand side of the sidewalk.
Students will remain seated until name is called!
Students will listen for their name and walk to correct loading area /number.
Second Load Bus riders (approximately 2:55 p.m. to Pod / 3:10 p.m. to cafeteria):
Second load bus riders will line up in grade level pod areas when 2nd load announcement is made.
Teachers will escort the students to the cafeteria in a single file line.
All students will walk to designated areas in a safe and appropriate manner.
Students will sit in designated areas based on their bus number.
Students may work on homework, read, or sit quietly while waiting for their bus to arrive.
Students will dismiss when their bus arrives and walk to the bus in a single file line.
Students should be in a single file line on the right hand side of the hallway when transitioning with their class.
Students may not talk and must keep hands to themselves.
All lines should have line leader.
The line leader for the class will stop at every “Spear” sign.
Individual students should have an agenda or a note from their teacher when in the hallway.
