The aroma of spices and teamwork filled the halls at Joe P. Eblen Intermediate during a schoolwide chili cook-off that turned learning into a delicious experience.

Students in Kristin Hensley and Jacob Klever’s class proudly brought home the top bragging rights after their chili was crowned the school’s champion. The victory was about much more than taste - it was about the process.

From start to finish, students were hands-on in every step of making the chili. Students jumped into the recipe, measuring, stirring, pouring and mixing every step of the way. Each task required focus, problem solving, and independence, as students worked together to bring their dish to life.

When the judges made their final decision, cheers erupted as the class was presented with the winning trophy and champion apron, celebrating not only a delicious chili but also the skills and confidence gained throughout the experience.

It was a flavorful reminder that learning can be hands-on, meaningful, and a whole lot of fun.
