Why this fundraiser is so special to our school:
NBES PTO has wanted to memorialize and celebrate the lives of two beloved students of North Buncombe Elementary School who tragically lost their lives during Hurricane Helene, Felix Wisely (age 9) and Lucas Wisely (age 7). Felix, a curious third-grader, loved magic, science, and storytelling he shared with us through his podcast with his mom Beyond Legends. Lucas, a loving second-grader, was known for his contagious smile, his blue boots, superhero costumes, and affection for cows. Their joy and spirit touched our school community deeply.
After much reflection upon the NBES family we lost we have decided to honor this family’s vibrant and joy-filled lives by designing, creating, and building a Legacy Garden and Memorial Playspace on our school grounds. These will be spaces where children can play, laugh and create memories in Felix and Lucas’s honor.
With the approval of their family, we envision that this Legacy Garden and Memorial Playspace will be designed with special focus on elements of the outdoors and nature that Felix and Lucas loved. There will be places of wonder, exploration, magic, art, music, education, and discovery throughout these outdoor spaces. Part of the Legacy Garden and Memorial Playspace will have an outdoor art piece commissioned by a local artist that will commemorate their legacy.
We aim to raise $250,000 by June 2025 to cover a pollinator garden, interactive playground equipment, installation, and a memorial outdoor art piece with their names on it.

How to Buy Tickets:
The easiest way is to use the QR code on left or buy tickets through the https://blackhawks.rallyup.com/2025raffle. The QR code will also be on our Facebook page and school emails going home, please share this QR code with everyone via email/social media who would like to help our school.
The second way is to send in cash or checks (made out to NBES PTO) to school. If sending money to school clearly state students name, teacher, and which raffle baskets you want (PTO President and Treasurer will enter funds into Rally Up). *If you send in money without stating which basket to put the tickets in PTO will put it in the 50/50 basket.
Drawings for each raffle basket will take place at the May 12th 1:45pm. PTO will use Rally Up to determine winners. We will contact the winners directly and post it on Facebook! Please email nbespto@gmail.com with questions. $1 = 1 raffle ticket
STUDENT INCENTIVES: Every 10 tickets the student sells they receive one token to be spent at the PTO Shop! The more they raise the more shopping and prizes they get at the end of the fundraiser. BE ON THE LOOK OUT FOR A WEEKEND CHALLENGE!!
