Buncombe County Schools Transportation (BCS) was recently recognized as a team recipient of School Transportation News’ (STN) 10th Annual Garage Stars award, an honor traditionally given to individuals but expanded this year to spotlight outstanding team achievements.

The Garage Stars award celebrates excellence in school transportation, recognizing fleet professionals or entire teams that demonstrate innovation, leadership, and commitment within their bus garages. The honorees are featured in the August issue of STN magazine.

This year, BCS was selected from more than 80 nominations, both individual and team, who were evaluated on criteria including community involvement, professional credentials, leadership, responsibility, industry development, training capability, regulatory commendations, and overall contribution to their transportation programs.

The BCS team distinguished itself through exceptional dedication during Hurricane Helene, providing vital support and services to the community amid challenging circumstances. Their extraordinary efforts earned them well-deserved recognition and set a high standard for school transportation teams nationwide.
