A Little About Myself:
I am currently one of two reading specialists at Eblen Intermediate and am very excited about the upcoming school year. I have been teaching in Buncombe County Schools for the past 17 years. I began my career at Leicester Elementary as a Title I assistant and taught 3rd grade for two years after completing my bachelors degree. I received a Reading License in K-12 and worked as a reading specialist in the Title I program for six years. I taught 5th grade for two years before implementing the Title I program at Eblen Intermediate School. I feel very fortunate to work in a school community where students are valued and everyone is committed to providing excellent education.
I received my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education from Mars Hill College. In addition, I have a license to teach reading in grades K-12. I am a National Board Certified teacher and received my Master's Degree at Gardner-Webb University in executive leadership.
I have deep roots in the Leicester/Erwin community. I attended Leicester Elementary School as a young child and graduated from Erwin High School. My husband and I have raised our three children in this community.
