Jamerson, Sonna - AIG Specialist (Eblen and WBES)

My home town is Weaverville and I am a native of Western North Carolina.  I started my teaching career in 1999 at Weaverville Elementary School.  I transferred to North Windy Ridge Intermediate School in 2002, assisting with the merger of the first intermediate school in the Buncombe County School system and in the state of North Carolina.  I taught both 5th and 6th grade students during my fifteen years of teaching at North Windy Ridge Intermediate School.  I moved back to Weaverville Elementary School at the beginning of 2017 to teach 3rd grade. I accepted a position as an AIG specialist for the 2018-19 school year and will continue working with the students and their families at Eblen Intermediate and West Buncombe Elementary Schools.

I obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education in 1999 and a Masters Degree in K-6 Comprehensive Education from Western Carolina University in 2002.  I became a National Board Certified Teacher in 2005.  I also completed an AIG Specialist licensure and a Reading Specialist licensure in 2015.  I am currently studying at Western Carolina University to obtain a Principal License add-on.
I am proud of being a native of Western North Carolina and value the rich heritage we have here. I also value and enjoy teaching students about other cultures and helping them to develop a love, understanding and acceptance for those who are different from us.
I truly feel blessed and honored to have this school year to work with your child.  I look forward to nurturing a relationship with your child that will help him or her see how fulfilling school and learning can be.
